I just watched a DVD for the first time on my Acer 5570Z, and the volume was much lower than on my previous laptop. However, I found a way to boost it noticeably in Vista (may work in xp if you can find it). - Right click the speaker icon in the task bar (or choose Control Panel : Sound). - Select Playback Tab : Speakers : Properties. - Select Enhancements Tab. - Check the Loudness Equalization box and click apply. Volume should now be substantially louder. Modifying Equalizer and Environment settings may also provide a boost.

When you purchase the laptop you would also get the motherboard drivers cd along with the vga card cd and the sound driver cd. after the installation of the operationg system you can install the sound software in it so that the operating system picks up the sound of your laptops hardware. so this is the way to put sound on your laptop.

I tried loudness equalization and it made it worse, it was about 50% quieter :-(

Well, reading this thread just confirms how many idiots are out there "trying to help"

to find the equilizer on your acer laptop depends entirely on the operating systems that you have on your acer laptop. for example if you have the windows xp as the operating system then you can click the sound equilizer located on the task bar and adjust the settings. if you have the windows 7k operating system then you can go to the control panel for the equilizer settings.
