 Q. My laptop speakers are really quiet on full volume is there any software you can recomend to turn them up?
"Put to laptop stereo speakers..."
Software will not solve the problem! Go to >
Control Panel > Sound and audio. All these are all on the first page. Put the Volume slider to Max.
Click on Advanced > Put all the settings to max and make sure all the balance settings are in the middle.
Speaker settings > Speaker Volume > set both left and right to max. Tick move all sliders at the same time.
Advanced > Speaker set up. Put to Laptop stereo speakers.
Performance > Audio Play Back put the sliders to Full and Best.
Click Apply and OK in each section as you come out.
That should solve your problem and you owe me a pint for all the typing!

 Q. When i plug in my headphones, sound still comes out of my laptop speakers? my headphones are in the right jack and pushed all the way in. i tried muting everything and changing settings in the control panel, but pretty randomly. is there a way to set it so when i have my headphones plugged in, my speakers are quiet? it is a gateway laptop with a speaker on each side of it if that helps...
i checked to make sure the headphones were in the correct jack and that both ends were clean and clear. sound comes out from both the speakers and the headphones so it is working somewhat. and when i mute the speakers the headphones are also muted and i hear nothing.
your headphone port might not be working, or check your bios

 Q. How do i amplify the sound on my laptop speakers...they are too quiet? i am trying to watch 28 days later in firefox but it is too quiet. i know that i can make the speakers get louder because ive used vlc player and amplified it to the point where it will blow the speakers. how do i do this for firefox or programs in general. there must be a program that overrides the default settings?
i am not buying new speakers, i know the speakers can get loud its just that the software isn't configured right. i need an override program.

 Q. Last night i reformatted my dell laptop, and now the speakers are really, really quiet. why, and how can i fix i used to play music over them all the time, but now i can barely hear it! i installed all the drivers from the cd dell supplied, but now i am at a loss as to how to fix this!
It looks like you deleted your soundcard driver in the process. Reinstall the driver.

 Q. I just bought a new laptop and when i try to play a dvd on it, the speakers are too quiet. why? it's a sony vaio fe770g and i use the interactual dvd program that came with the computer. i checked the volume controls and everything is where it should be. i've looked for volume controls and i can't find anything specifically to turn the volume up for the dvd player. what can i do? i have the volume turned all the way up and i can't make out the words anyone is saying.
the volume is at a good level when i play any video clips on myspace or ebaums...so it's dvd specific...
"Laptop speakers are notorious for being too quiet..."
Laptop speakers are notorious for being too quiet, because of their size and positioning on the machine. My suggestion would be to buy some external speakers, you can find them for really cheap if you're not too concerned about audio quality. You can also find battery-operated setups if you want to travel with them. Try a Best Buy or Circuit City or even Wal-Mart. Good luck! ~Scottie

 Q. When i plug in my microphone into my laptop my speakers stop working and go quiet until i unplug the mic? its a sony vocal mic and when i use it for chatting on msn and skype etc, when i plug in the mic i cant hear the ppl on the other side talk but i think they can hear me nd sometimes the sound starts coming out of the microphone really quiet though can anybody help me? i want to get the sound to come out of my speakers again it worked perfectly 2 months ago.
i did plug it into the right hole i plugged it into the mic one
even when im not on skype or anything nd i wanna listen to a song, i cant unless i unplug it.
on skype go to check settings and click on the speakers and that should pull down a little box that has maybe 2 or 3 options click on the on that says something like audio device.and on msn you might want to go and check your sound settings and set the same audio device to default as your speakers

 Q. Can the speakers on the toshiba-l505d laptop get any louder? i have the toshiba-l505d laptop and like i said, the speakers are painfully quiet. some music is almost inaudible when played at it's full volume. any ideas?
Try updating your sound driver. If that does not work, try headphones. If headphone volume is ok, consider external powered speakers.

are those loud?
"It has a great range of active speakers..."
find a good powered speaker or active speaker, (they don't need a external amplifier ) and just plug this into your head phones plug, i recommend looking at Maplin , http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?menuno=85868, it has a great range of active speakers , they are all great Quality and loud , i have just got the 800w one and it is about 125 db , loud enough for any occasion , and it will plug into your computer / laptop also you can Control your bass mid and treble to your taste on the back of the speaker
