Go to control panel. Click hardware and sound. Click sound, then speakers. Chose the levels tab. There should be two different volume controls 1 for speakers, the other for pc speaker. Turn pc speaker down all the way(mute it ). This should turn it off completely. It worked for me. I can listen to music and everything on my speakers still but the beep doesn`t go off when i unplug my charger . i have a gateway laptop that runs on vista.

if you want to increase your volume internally first go to the volume icon that is shown on your task bar a small speaker shape that is shown on taskbar click the speaker a volume level is shown by the speaker afterwards you can increase or decrease the volume of the speaker manually

When I plug the ac adapter into my hp pavilion zv6000 the screen becomes dim and when I unplug the ad adapter the screen becomes brighter. Anybody knows why?

I had the same problem...I had a headset an my mic was making beeping noises but I could hear my self though...so what I did is that I opened the mic with a little screwdriver and saw that the mic wire was being presed by a plastic thing so that was stoping the wire connection...I just replaced the wire to some other side and then I could hear my self clearly :)

It seems that your AC adapter could have a loose internal component or a loose contact, this might be reason when you throw it around the beep stops. But when the contact loose again I am sure the beep will get back.
