80% of the programmers prefer to use Linus mainly due the reason that there are no compatability issues with Linux and the most important reason is that Linux got very high level of security and backup is easy as compared to other operating system.

I seriously don`t know who told you that programmers use a mac. MAC was never designed for programmers, rather it was purely designed for home usage and for multimedia engineers (i.e. people who develop multimedia thingies). Please perish the thoughts that MAC is meant to be for programmers or programmers use MAC , i believe hardly 20% of programmers world-wide uses MAC for their programming purpose, unless and until they want to learn mac programming specifically.

I wouldn`t be bias and say that every and all programmers like Linux but i`ll be rational about it and i will speak about the facts and figures. So according to facts and figures i will say that around 80% programmers world wide like Linux and 20% remaining: a) likes other operating systems (b) has their own operating system and don`t prefer any other. So it`s as clear as explained above, now you can judge the facts and decide what to do ! :)

Linux is mostly prefered. It is very upgrade and best for programmers. You can see XFCE, Fluxbox, Gnome etc... Overall it is a best choice.
