Cecil | Q. Why are my speakers so low?
"You may need to check your speaker volume from the taskbar speaker icon..."
There can be many reasons for your speaker being so low. You may need to check your speaker volume from the taskbar speaker icon. You can also increase the wave output of your speakers from there. It may also be a problem with your audio drivers that is making the volume of your speakers so low. You can try re-installing your audio drivers or checking for new updates on the website of your speakers` manufacturers.

 Q. Why are my external speakers playing music more quietly than before? i moved, and so i set up my speakers in the same configuration that they were in before, but the speaker volume is only about half of what it should be. all speakers are plugged in correctly, and the subwoofer has power. also, i'm using a mac, so installing new drivers isn't an option. what could be causing this decrease in volume?
"Output tab that output volume slider is way up highest..."
1. Have you checked in System Preferences ->Sound -> Output tab that output volume slider is way up highest?
2. Do you have a cellular phone placed near your speakers?
3. Just for case, check the cables, maybe there is a "naked wire" somewhere on it. If I were you, I'd unplug it and plug it back in just to be sure that everything is being connected properly.
4. What Mac OS version you are running?

 Q. My computer speakers were working fine, and now they play to quietly, and it has bursts of loud. is it a short it seems as though there is a loose connection somewhere, but i have replugged all the cables in. i uninstalled the sound card and reinstalled it. so i have no idea why it is doing this. i do not think i blew the speakers because they sound fine in music quality
"Can trouble shoot this by wiggling the volume knob and seeing if the volume..."
its not a short or you would be having hardware issues. you probably have one of two problems. the volume knob can go bad and cause an issue like this. sometimes you can trouble shoot this by wiggling the volume knob and seeing if the volume level changes. if it does change then you need to buy new speakers. if the first trick doesn't work then look for broken or loose connections in the wiring for the set.

 Q. Should you break in headphones like you do wih speakers? when i have bought speakers for my hifi it always states you should play them quietly for a while to 'break them in' or losen them up before you can obtain optuim sound quality. is it the same for headphones. i have just bouyght myself a nice pair and have been playing them loud from the start. the actualy level of sound it is admitting is still quite small i suppose just that its right next to my ear!. anyway is there any sort of standard advice?
Hi there. I don't think you have to worry about headphones "breaking in". The diaphragms are very small compared to speakers and the distance they travel back and forth to create sound is very short

 Q. How to get rid of static with my speakers? hey, when i have my logitech speakers connected to my laptop, on a rare occasion i hear some random radio station playing quietly in the background. it is really annoying! also, there is a fingerprint reader on the laptop which has metal on either side of it. when i touch this (when typing) it makes a high-pitched beeping sound.
how can i get rid of these sounds? i dont want to move the speakers any further away than they r now.
any ideas?
u should buy new speakers, they're usually cheap now, and if its not that. then check ur pc's voice/speaker settings that sometimes interfere with the same microphone settings it has in case u have ur microphone on. either that or u need to get ur pc checked by a pro

 Q. Computer speakers channeling local radio station? yeah, you heard that right. my boyfriend's speakers are, for some reason, playing a local radio station very quietly, we can't get it to turn up or off, and there's nothing from his computer that would be causing it - we've got lowe's home page up.
what gives?
Are they external speakers? If so, then they are probably picking up a harmonic signal from the radio transmission. If this is the case, then the speakers must not be shielded which would prevent this interferance. You could try reorienting the speakers to see if that eliminates the problem. Another thing to try is to twist the wires going to the speaker so the actual wires are in a spiral. This might cause the induced radio signal to cancel itself out. Also, make sure you don't have any radio equipment in close proximity to the speakers - there could be some secondary interferance coming from that.

 Q. Cackling noise from computer speakers? mine always used to do this noise quietly, and would still play audio, but now, it doesn't play audio and this interference is really loud.
is it possible to make this noise if my speakers are broken, because i don't know what's causing this problem. should i get new speakers?
however, the odd thing is that if i go on youtube, somehow the site knows my speakers aren't working because it stops playing after 2 seconds, it does this all the time when my speakers wouldn't make sound.
but everything is connected on my computer, i've restarted but it does nothing.
"You don't say if you have a laptop or a desktop..."
You don't say if you have a laptop or a desktop.
A quick check for your speakers is to disconnect them and plug in some headphones. If the noise goes away, get new speakers. If the noise persists, the sound card is the most likely culprit. This is where the PC vs. laptop question enters the equation. Replacing or adding a sound card to your PC is a relatively simple task. The laptop, not so much.

 Q. Why does sound come out too quietly in one speaker on my computer? my left speaker, (the side one, without the control for loudness) plays less than half as loud as it should be comparing it to my main speaker. i can sometimes find a good spot wiggling the wires in the back and moving the audio adjustment, but i want a more permanent fix. help will be much appreciated.
If wiggling wires helps then the speakers need replacing... you have an electrical short...

 Q. Help!!! the speakers of my laptop play really low!?!?!?!? i've turned it up all i could all over the computer (even in the control panel) and in the volume audio properties, its set to laptop stereo speakers (which is what i have) so i dont understand why it plays so quietly???
I had the same problem with mine as well.
Sadly I never fixed the problem other than using a cord that plugs into the headphone port into my speakers for a radio. It plays in the Aux setting and for some radios its Game mode.
This probably didn't help a lot, but good luck.
