I just watched a DVD for the first time on my Acer 5570Z, and the volume was much lower than on my previous laptop. However, I found a way to boost it noticeably in Vista (may work in xp if you can find it). - Right click the speaker icon in the task bar (or choose Control Panel : Sound). - Select Playback Tab : Speakers : Properties. - Select Enhancements Tab. - Check the Loudness Equalization box and click apply. Volume should now be substantially louder. Modifying Equalizer and Environment settings may also provide a boost.

The sound system on your laptop has been equipped with very low power speakers. That is why your laptop will already has the maximum volume level set in the sound card driver according to the maximum output power that will not burn the internal speakers of your laptop . Plug in your audio output device (headphones, line out, etc.) into the stereo out jack. When the prompt asks "line out" or "headphones", choose "headphones". This will mute the speakers. If you choose "line out", the speakers will remain active. It`s weird.

Your drivers will not let you go beyond the imposed maximum limit. Going beyond will distort the sound and maybe burn your speakers or soundboard. You could install sound enhancers for your media player, but that will not make the sound louder. For louder sound you need to buy externally powered speakers that are amplified. Thomas Norrington

i am living in pakistan and i have the normal computer speakers of cost about the 500 rupees or 5.84$. so if anything goes wrong in these speakers then i use to get the new speakers because if i get them to the technician the he would take more than half of price of the original speakers. so why to get it fixed when you can but the new one for the same price . so get the new speakers and use them. thanks..
