Probably the P6100 is better for any laptop, but it depends on what you want. The Intel P6100 is faster, has more cache, and has a built-in GPU, but draws 40% more power. The P6100 draws 35 Watts (max), the P340 is only 25 Watts (max). If you want performance, you probably want the Intel P6100. One of the biggest differences is that the Intel chip has an integrated on-chip graphics processor (GPU ), whereas the AMD does not. This means that a system using the AMD chip will need a discrete graphics card, which will obviously draw additional power. This is why you will see any laptop featuring this AMD chip includes a discrete (ATI) graphics card. If you`re going to go with a discrete graphics card either way, then obviously this is less of an advantage for the P6100. And obviously there is a vast array of graphics cards out there, so I won`t get into that. Suffice it to say that the Intel`s on-board GPU is sufficient for most applications, but if you`re planning on playing Crysis at max resolution, you probably shouldn`t be on a laptop anyway. On the CPU performance side (ignoring the GPU issue) the P6100 is more powerful: First, the P6100 is a dual-core CPU based on a 32nm technology. The AMD P340 is a dual-core CPU based on 45nm tech. This basically means that the P6100 uses a more advanced technology to achieve smaller transistors, and therefore more transistors per square inch. Another big difference is in the on-chip cache sizes. The Intel P6100 has 3 levels of cache: L1 cache: 64 KB (code) / 64 KB (data) L2 cache (KB): 512 KB L3 cache (KB): 3072 KB The AMD P340 has 2 levels of cache: L1 cache 128 KB (code) / 128 KB (data) L2 cache (KB) 1024 KB So the Intel chip has a LOT more cache available - over 3 times as much (3.5MB vs 1.1 MB). This means less fetching from system RAM. The AMD`s only advantage is a 10% higher clock frequency (2.2 GHz vs. 2.0 GHz) , but this really doesn`t necessarily mean anything. Its kinda like the timing on a car`s engine - faster timing doesn`t guarantee higher power. So the P6100 is significantly more powerful, includes a GPU, and draws 40% more power. The effect on battery life may be mitigated by power-saving features. And the fact that the Intel power consumption includes an integrated GPU, you may even see better battery life with the Intel compared to an AMD-based system with discrete GPU. Personally, I`d go with the Intel.

Well Friend nice question, as per my opinion i recommend you intel pentium dual core t4500 because it has 45NM but the Intel pentium p6100 only has 32NM, it also affect your display. well 4500 has no more addition features but 6100 has many, nut still i recommend you 4500. Thanks. John R. Bradson

Intel® Pentium® Processor T4500: stereo or mono sound?

Technically, The Core 2 Processor is not Wifi Ready. However, as long as the machine you are running on has wifi capabilities, the wifi will work as these have their own processors to do the networking part separate to the cpu. When you see Centrino, it means that it has a wifi card installed in the machine.

P6100 bwill warm less than the T4500 , are compared to 3MB of cache 1MB, is based on Nehalem architecture currently used by core i7, compared to the already decrepit core2 architecture, and mainly as table, the T4500 does not have Intel64 instructions:

I am currently using asus k42F series based on Intel Pentium P6100 processor, I guess its good one and it is more than enough for good computing if you dont want to spend more for a i3 processor. And no doubt it is duel core. ( i found lots of people to make question whether it is duel core on not )

according to Wikipedia the pentium 4 line is a single core processor
