Philippine addresses changes from time to time and route changes frequent. It would be costly to have them updated from time to time. Not unless there is a political will.

the name brand really does not matter. some ppl may find that tom tom is better, while other think garmin is the sh*t. so do your own research and see what you expect from a gps. you might want to note that garmin and tom tom charge a fee for map updates. the fee is generally about 100 bucks. so keep that in mind when you make your choice.http://www.newelectronx.com/help.php?category_id=11

Everyone gps could be the best it all depends on your needs. From those two the garmin is cheaper than tom tom so if the money is important for you you should get garmin but if you don`t care than tom tom is for you. I just bought a Tom Tom 720 had a garmin before nver had any troubles with it, only thing I hate is maps are very expensive to load for Garmin and same is the parts if you need any for the same. Easy to use as compared to Tom Tom. Will updat you later give me few days to try my Tom Tom.

well there is no way to do such insertion of garmin software on tomtom devices, you can find on the market some applications that has two versions for each one but this is all you will find

I`m a Hackney driver and been using a Tomtom 510 Go for over two years, I also have a BMW motorcycle and wanted a Satnav for it. Lots of biking people seemed to go for the Garmin Zumo which I recently purchased as it has Car & Motorcycle mounts. Now although most people will use Sat Nav`s for door to door journeys` I however in the course of my work have found it very very useful to see the road layout ahead i.e. showing side roads and when a bend is coming up and the severity of that bend allowing me to adjust my speed accordingly. Having run both Sat Nav`s side by side the Tomtom wins hands down. Its road depiction is far more relevant to the actual road layout which is a must for Bikers and serious drivers.

I have tried both. The widescreen version of garmin is the only way to go, if you are like me and you are used to a qwerty keyboard. The Tom Tom has better software to find something on route. For examlpe, if you are travelling for a few hours and you would like to get a steak dinner along the route, Tom Tom makes good choices. Garmin is SO SO stupid, the programmers should hide their heads in the sand, because it will actually route you to steak houses that are not along the route but even ones behind you. Its just bad. Tom tom is much better as I said. However the map in Tom Tom is just not as good. Way points vary from city to city between the two gps systems. Hard to call there. Garmin`s maps are simply impossible to beat, but their software is not quite as good I would say. On the other hand for novice users the garmin is much easier software to use. Oh one other thing... Garmin does make it easy to click on the map and get an overview which is easy to zoom out and click and drag around to see where you are going and what the gps has planned for you. Tom Tom can give you an overview but its not draggable (not a word I know) as far as I can figure out. Also you have to go through 2 menus to even get the overview. I find this a very very bad shortcoming because you can`t just trust a gps you need to take a look at what its planning. Sometimes they make stupid choices and screw you up bad so you have to review what they are planning. So it must be dead easy to get that overview in map form. Garmin does this nicely. All in all I have to give garmin the two thumbs up.

when you consider widescreen you have to really be honest and say that a gps with a 4.3 inch screen is not truly a wide screen gps. a gps with a wide screen has at least a 5 inch color touch screen or more. when considering any gps garmin or tom tom or who ever, i would recommend getting the higher end gps model. garmin and tom tom sells there higher end models at an unbelievable price - like $365 to $480 depending on what you want.
