I have lived here all of my life and I have found that most places in the mountains are nice. I like Mesa Verde because of all of the Anastazi ruins it is cool.One of my favorite places is Cottonwood lake just outside of Buena Vista..I could go on and on. Here is a link with some good ideas.

Where to begin! There are tons of great camping in The Whites. If you are looking for more campground-style tenting then look at Lafayette Place Campground in Franconia Notch State Park. Greta are for hiking, camping and anything else outdoors.
If you're looking for something more wilderness/backcountry try 13 Falls Tentsite or Liberty Springs Campsite. Both are wilderness camping which requires a bit of a hike to it but its worth it.

Q. Where is the best tent camping spot in colorado? my wife and i have about 4 days with out the kids and want to go out and finally experience colorado. we have lived here for 4 years and we hardlyh ever go to the mountains. we want to do some fishing and some easy to moderate hiking. caming in a koa is out of the question (that's not really camping) but a mountain campground would be ok. if we need to hike in that would be fine too.. thanks for any suggestions.
Maroon Bells near Aspen is my absolute favorite spot for mountain scenery in Colorado. You can camp nearby at the Silver Queen, Silver Bell or Silver Bar campgrounds (Silver Queen is the best). The hiking is exquisite in the summer - you will not believe all the wildflowers! I believe you can fish in the Roaring Fork River with the appropriate license. A great way to get there would be to drive over Independence Pass (Hwy 82 from the east). You can also check out Aspen for a nice meal or to spot a celebrity. I also recommend the Woody Creek Tavern not far away for a decent meal and a drink in honor of the late Dr. Hunter S. Thompson! If you really want to experience the outdoors in Colorado, this is the place. Have a GREAT time!

Q. What is the best stove for staying in a tent in a mountain? i have heard that the gas stoves are dangerous. what do you think? do you know other variants?
I try not to use a stove inside of my tent while out on the trail, but I know that there are times where it can not be avoided. With that in mind decided on an MSR Pocket rocket. Just remember that there are pros and cons with any type of stove that you use.

Rocky Mtn Natl Park is wonderful! We'll be going there in about six weeks. I love it.
One of our favorite places to go is in the Uintah range in Utah. Most of the best places are reached by hiking but if you take State Rd 150 (Mirror Lake Hwy) that runs between Kamas, UT and Evanston, WY you'll find several campgrounds that are in beautiful country. There are several mtn lakes along the road that offer great fishing but are way to cold for swimming.

Moon Lake on the south side of the range, above Mountain Home, UT is another great place to camp. It's a bigger, nicer lake but further from civilization.

Q. Whats the best hunting camp tent....? i mean i always camp while hunting because i have to travel to the mountains to find game so i just expect that every body else did the same thing....well.....there's gotta be some body else who does like me.....aint there?
You knew what I would say before you even asked.
I prefer Coleman Tents or as you do a good canvas cabin tent. When moving camps a lot the Coleman cannot be beat when staying in cold country where you can have a tent stove to warm up those winter nights a canvas tent cannot be beat.

Green Valley Lake near Lake Arrowhead. Nice little campground at the end of the road and not far from the lake. Also you are right on the edge of town.
