Q. Where should you sleep when mountain climbing?

"There is a popular saying among mountain climbers that states climb high and sleep low..."

You should always sleep at a lower altitude than the one where you have been during the climbing day. There is a popular saying among mountain climbers that states climb high and sleep low. This will allow your body to recover from the lack of oxygen in the blood and brain and you will wake up feeling truly rested. If you have been going up during the day go back to the last place where you felt good and set your camp there. Most mountains have mountain huts as sleeping points in lower locations so, when you finish climbing you can return to a safe place to sleep. If your mountain does not have mountain huts, I am sure you are well equipped with a nice wind cutting tent and warm sleeping bags. Remember, sleep low. Vera Oak 555863

Q. My bernese mountain dog is 10 years old and has cancer. is it best to put him to sleep?
he eats, but only chicken, etc. he doesn't seem like he is in pain...however he wants to spend every night outside as where before he would always go to bed upstairs with our family. my dad always has to carry him inside, but do you think it is better that he stays outside?

"I would just make him comfortable and give him the best possible life..."

If he doesn't seem to be in pain, I would just make him comfortable and give him the best possible life. I have a friend who has a golden that's had cancer for about a year now and he's still doing good. Fix him a nice place outside and let him come in when he wants.

Why be a vegatable and sleep at home when there is a wonderful world out there to explore? Some people enjoy a challenge, others find satisfaction in the accomplishment, and there are a few who just enjoy the adrenaline. I'm sure the list is more varied than that, but it is a short start. :)

how much does the upgrade for a mountain hardwear 1st dimension sleeping bag increase the temp rating?

They no longer make the upgrades, or at least I can't find them anywhere, except formerly at REI, but they did once and back then the upgrades added "20 -25 degrees" to a three season bag. Here's the archived MH website from 2001: http://web.archive.org/web/20010214022844/www.mountainhardwear.com/bags/upgrade.html
