Q. A question about mono speakers and stereo speakers?
my mother recently purchased an emachines netbook (one reason being our desktop computer is emachines brand), when she got it, the sound was ridiculously low, and now that she's finally getting into youtube she wanted to be able to listen to music loud and clearly but the sound is low, it can barely be heard in the same room, let alone the whole house. my computer can be heard in the kitchen from the bedroom. i don't know what kind of audio it had, but a knew one that i'm looking at for her has mono speakers. mono sound tends to be low, like on my video games where it asks you to choose the sound type. this looks like a good netbook but i'm not sure about the mono part, that was probably the problem with the first one that she now sent back. my netbook has stereo speakers, and since mono and stereo are opposites (i think) i'm predicting that her netbook will again have low volume. thank you. so what's the difference between mono and stereo? can you explain the "channel" thing? so does that mean the netbook possibly being mono wasn't the cause and that the netbook itself was the problem?

Being mono or stereo has nothing to do with the volume. Where stereo is two channels or tracks (left & right), mono is only one channel sent to both the left and right.

firefox netbook sound....help!!!? ive got an acer netbook. i recently tried playing a mp3/video using mplayer. since trying to change the settings after a loud crackle, my sound on my netbook is so low and i dont know how to get it loud and back to normal again, even on you tube my sound is so quiet and plugging speakers in. on the sound menu it says these options: oss alsa arts esd nas sdl mpeg null pcm which one do i need to change it to? also do i need to normalise sound and enable equalizer? i have no idea what i have done wrong!!! i neeeeed my sound back!!! please can someone help me!! ive been sitting here ages and ages trying to get my sound back!! i put the settings to mpeg and enabled equalizer and still nothing. i tried oss still nothing, please help me!!!!!!!
