Yes there is a software called sound booster but not always it is a good idea. It can do bad stuff for your computer and sound so better buy some bigger and more powerful speakers and see if it helps to increase your sound. But i have heard for sume plugins too for player you use. John Doubtson

ok this is a weird problem my laptop speakers produce very low sound. so low that you have to lean up against it to hear it when it's on full blast. the thing is that about a week ago, i reinstalled xp and the sound didn't work at all. then one day, i installed bicro vista transformer. it's this thing that makes xp look like vista. and boom there gos my sound it's back again. but it's really low is there any software that i can use to boost my sound i tried external speakers, it's still low. the speakers are altec lansing thanks i already checked all the settings and thye sound driver is the newest i can get. i have a guitar amp and it does make my sound louder, but it sounds bad and i don't want to carry amp around i know something is wrong with my laptop. i'll try and see if i can get another sound driver thanx

Check out the program called "SX Fidelity Amplifier" at www.soundgenetics.com. it works fine for me. if not buying, just reinstall after the trying period expired. Good luck

hi, please be kind enough to help me to fix a hardware problem. sound card: realtek ac97 audio platform: winxp sp2 but there is a problem with the sound card. the microphone input volume being very low, only a feeble sound could be recorded. i tried different microphones but the problem could not be fixed. i could discover myself that the sound card is not able to record sound fully. perhaps the input volume of recording may be low! is there any boosting software so as to boost the mic input volume? please help me to fix the above problem!!

Try updating your driver. according to the AC'97 driver version A3.97 documentation, it has 20dB boost preamplifier for Mic input. Check the link below. Hope this helps

I had the same problem. Use Everest Ultimate Edition http://www.lavalys.com which shows your hardware and the link for each driver. The trial version shows your basic hardwares.

You have to understand that there is alot more to buying a computer than looking at specs . Thats what marketing people are counting on. That why companies like acer are doing well in sales but far better built computers aren't selling as well. Yes, there are tons of computers that have as good specs for appx the same amount, especially if you are a good shopper and hit a sale at the right time. The others will have better reliability, better ergonomics, better tech support (ALL tech support is bad now, but acer/emachines/gateway takes the cake), better customer service (ALL cust service is bad now, but acer is famous), better quality assurance, better warranty policy, better repair turn around time, etc, etc, etc. Think of buying a computer based on specs the same way as buying a car based on specs. A dodge may have more horsepower than a volvo, infinity or mercedes. But what has better reliabiity, better ergonomics, better service dept, better after sales care, better presitge of ownership? Do you really want to say, I have an acer? Do you really want to be seen with that logo? I see high school and college kids at the library with stickers strategicly placed to cover the logos that I know through experience are acers. Think of pedigree. Acer is also emachnes and gateway. But a company like HP or dell makes servers, blade servers and pro workstations. Thinnk of provenance. Fortune 55 companies, the government, the military use HP, toshiba, compaq and dell. NO company except a little ma and pa on a shoestring budget uses acer. Think of what people in the know use. Technicians use dell, hp, compaq and asus. NONE of my coworkers use acer except as a throwaway. Think of turn around for a repair. Dell will have you up and running within one business day (no holiday or weekend). AeG will take about 6 weeks and it probably won't be fixed. My niece bought one a few years back during black friday. Of course it broke within a few months, it took MORE than six weeks, and when it came back, not only was it not working, it came back with a blank hd and the case was beat up. So if you buy based on specs, you may be disappointed.
