It is so loud sometimes that I actually turn off the program. Usually when the (music)? is loudest is when is is most inappropriate--like tender moments-or someone dying in a hospital bed. What can we do???write to our reps in Washington---HA.

The headphones may have a loose/broken wire, or the ipod could have a common glitch. This happens in many ipods, but due to the factory warranty on most, they are returned and a new one is received.

Maybe your headphones are broken.

Try going to the audio menu and turning off surround sound. If you don`thave surround sound and that menu item is turned on then the backround music/noise will overwhelm the dialogue.
