 Q. Windows xp sound problem? hey guys, i've been using the windows 7 rc for a while now, but i've decided to go back to windows xp, and i'm just having one problem:
some sound coming from certain programs is much much louder than others.
i can barely hear anything coming from firefox (ie youtube videos) even when everything is on full volume, but my game on low volume is extremely loud.
windows 7 had a really great volume control that allowed you to control volume for all programs running, but i don't think xp has an equivalent.
any help appreciated, thanks.

 Q. How do you make your ipod sound louder? i really want to know how to make the sound louder on my ipod, from my computer (thus making the ipod super loud) i have a blue second generation ipod kano.and i have a windows xp computer. does anyone know how i can make the sound really loud on my ipod. ( i don't mean turning the volume up on my ipod) i mean making it so my sound can go louder than it can now, if that makes sense or helps
thank you so much if you can help!
"It's possible that it has a volume limiter in place..."
It's possible that it has a volume limiter in place, there might be something in the options to turn it off. You can also adjust the Eq to make the sound fuller. The best thing to do would probably be to invest in a decent set of earbuds/headphones.
Just wondering, why do you want it to be so loud? If you use earbuds/headphones most of the time you are likely going to cause permanent damage to your ears, possibly even tinnitus. Don't know what that is? Just look it up, it's not a pleasant thing.
Back in high school I use to do the same thing, now I get massive pains in my left ear and my hearing is almost as bad as my dads (who is over 60 and a war veteran). It's really not worth it, but do as you please.

 Q. How can i get sound back on my computer since switched to windows xp? i recently got lots of viruses on my computer widows vista and went to repair it because it was really bad, but then the guy brought it back and he set my computer as widows xp i don't know how anyway now i don't have sound, i can't listen to music or anything. i don't have that little sound box in the right corner of my desktop showing how loud i want the sound like most windows xp.
"But choose windows xp instead of vista if you are asked..."
You need to re-install the drivers for your sound card and your speakers.
You should have the CD for both, just insert it and re-install everything, but choose Windows XP instead of Vista if you are asked.
If it still does not work, try downloading the drivers.
Since your OS has changed you need to find the drivers for windows XP, not windows vista.
Find out the model of your sound card, google it along with the word 'driver',
find, download, install.
Then,
Find out the model of your speakers, google it along with the word 'driver',
find, download, install.
Reboot your system,
Now you should be good to go :)

 Q. Convert an audio file to be louder in sound? is there a program for windows xp that you can put your music through to amp up the sound so when u put it on your ipod it is really loud even at low volume.
"Sound recorder comes built-in with windows xp (programs -->accessories-->..."
There are lots of programs to do this. Sound Recorder comes built-in with Windows XP (Programs -->Accessories--> Entertainment-->SoundRecorder) and can be used to load your audio file and amplify the levels (Effects-->Increase Volume 25%, keep repeating).
However, you're better off with going with 3rd party programs, such as Adobe Audition to do this, as you have more control and will get a much better end result.
Lastly, I wont recommend amplifying your songs too much, you'll be disappointed with the distortion (especially in the bass).

 Q. Sound is not working properly (fails dxdiag test), but music is fine (no dxdiag test problems) . why is this? i'm able to listen to some music from my computer, such as itunes, myspace, and youtube. on some sites instead of hearing music, i hear a scratching sound from my computer's internal speakers, when i turn the volume up, the scratching sound is louder... not sure what's going on. i've adjusted my windows xp sound sliders and have been unable to resolve the problem. at first i figured i had blown my speakers but that's not the case as i'm currently listening to my itunes.
i appreciate any knowledge on this subject.
thank you.
