Just click the right mouse button on my computer icon than click propertires and you will see number of cpu cores there in section called general. Or you can open the same window using start than control panel and than what your operation sytem has about computer my windows xp has performance and maintenance. Just check everything under control panel and you will find it. John Doubtson

Q. How many cores does a core 2 duo processor have?
i have read in alot of places that a core 2 duo processor has more than 2 cores? can someone please explain to me about cores and cpu's? thanks.

there are different core processor. core is the technology upon which they are made --core 2 duo has 2 cores ---core 2 quad has four cores ----core i7 has 4 cores and behaves like having 8 cores due to hyper threading. i7 is the best quad comes nexx and then comes duo. but all are amazingly fast and ideal for todays needs.

Q. How do multiple cores speed up your computer?
lets say you have a 2 ghz cpu with one core, that one core would be running at 2 ghz. but if you have a 2ghz cpu with 2 cores, wouldn't each core be running at 1ghz?

Nope. You would have 2 cores both running at 2ghz, so you would be able to run everything twice as fast.

Q. How do ice cores document past climate? why are bubbles trapped in the ice so important to scientists?
explain two ways that ice cores document past climate. why are bubbles trapped in the ice so important to scientists? please, i have been stuck on this question and it is my last one to do. help?

The bubbles trap gas and sediment from distant geologic time. They can be used to examine -- (1) Paleotemperature and seasonal variation... direct analysis of melt layers between ice. (2) Humidity... based on excess deuterium excess and Oxygen-18 reference. The deuterium excess can be used to identify vapor source regions. Winter precipitation originating from the Mediterranean Sea is characterized today by distinctly higher excess values, reflecting the specific source conditions during water vapor formation. Increased deuterium excess in precipitation can also arise from significant addition of re-evaporated moisture from continental basins to the water vapor traveling inland. Thus -- we know more about the past climate and disposition of the continents. (3) Paleo-accumulation of sediments/snow... from visual "seasonal signals" and counting measures of the spontaneously radioactive Beryllium-10 isotope. The rate of Be-10 production depends on the strength of high energy galactic cosmic rays. Its influence is lower if the solar wind that is associated with solar activity is higher. The variation of Be-10 concentration with time in Antarctic ice samples may be an indicator of solar activity in the past. (4) Volcanic activity... via analysis of gas conductivity (more of specific particulates conduct electricity better) and sulfate (SO4), a salt of sulfuric acid, caused by sulfur dioxide mixing with atmospheric moisture. Sulfur dioxide is a main component of natural volcanic gas (5) Tropospheric "turbidity"... basically a measure of how upset and unstable the atmosphere was. They analyze this through the microparticle content and trace sediments/elements within the "bubble" and solid electrical conductivity (called ECM for some reason) similar to the volcanic activity study. (6) Wind speed... based on the concentration of particles within the bubble, and their size; stronger winds can carry more and larger particles. (7) Atmospheric composition from both natural variations and man-made changes... direct measurements of trapped carbon dioxide, methane, and various nitric oxides, along with other "glaciochemistry" analysis (8) Atmospheric circulation... distribution of major or unusual ions and finally (9) Solar activity... goes right back up to the top with the Beryllium-10, which is created by gamma rays

Q. How to force fsx demo to utilize the two cores of a dual core cpu?
as stated above, please can anyone tell me how to force fsx demo to utilize the two cores so that i can get most out of the processor. i can run the demo at all settings maxed on one core getting 13fps. and i think if it utilizes all the two cores then i would atleast get 20fps which will be better. so please any trick to force the fsx demo to use two core of a dual core cpu?

Two cores of a dual core cpu is more beneficial in working on computer so I like dual core cpu.

Q. If you have a quad-core processor can you have all cores of your processor have even usage?
i noticed that core 1 and core 2 of my quad have been getting almost all the work load, while core 3 is getting very very little and core 4 is getting nothing, unless i'm playing crysis. i think my computer would be faster if all 4 cores took 25% of the work load instead of putting everything on too the first and 2nd core. is there a way too do this?

to my knowledge in this subject, not everything is ready to utilize all 4 cores. so that means most programs and things everyone does now a days can't be used by all four cores. when the quad cores came out it was to be "future proof" as they call it to by one right now. just wait a couple months/years and by then most things will be quad core compatible.

Q. What are the cores in a graphics card and what do they do?
i've been looking at graphics cards and they have a different amount of cores between models. what are they? what do they do? and what are the benefits of having more cores. thanks for any help.

The cores on a graphics card are like the CPU on you computer. They process video. Usually the more cores you have the better graphics you will have in the computer games you play.
