| ![]() Powered by | ![]() Q. How can i get my computer to boost the volume output to my headphones?"Volume on the main slider on the computer could be set to about 50%..."I'm going to assume that you're using a PC: First make sure the 3 different volumes are turned up. The first is in the program that you're using to play the sounds (video player or music player). Then open the Volume controls program from the Tray (lower-right corner of the screen near the clock). If you don't have the volume control there, then get it by going through Control Panel and Sounds and Audio. In the volume control you'll find the Wave channel which receives the sound straight after it comes out of the audio player, then the signal gets passed to the Main volume control (the left-most slider).
Note that if you're talking about audio that's coming from a microphone or other external device that's plugged into the computer, then it's not the Wave slider but either the Microphone or Line In sliders that are controlling the volume of that device. If you can't see these in the Volume Control, then go to Options and Properties in the Volume Control program and make sure those channels are selected.
If this doesn't help, then I would be checking that you're not using headphones with the wrong impedance. Try using a different set of headphones. If it gets a lot louder, then the first set of headphones are probably the wrong impedance and could damage the computer's sound card so don't use them.
If the volumes are all up and the headphone change didn't help, then your next option is to put in an audio post-processing program. If you're playing music files, then try the Winamp player because it has a preamp in the EQ. If you're talking about playing video files, the ffdshow audio decoder which comes with the K-Lite Codec Pack has a volume amplification section which allows it to amplify the volume on the fly. You just run the video and then click on the audio decoder icon that appears in the System Tray and go to the volume section.
The only other option I can think of is to hook amplified speakers or a stereo up to your computer and then plug the headphones into that. If you do it this way, watch that you don't turn the volume on the computer up too high because it could damage the amplifier in the stereo. The volume on the main slider on the computer could be set to about 50% and then adjust the volume in the headphones using the stereo volume control. If you hear a hissing sound behind the sounds you're listening to, then try turning the volume on the computer up more and the stereo volume down. The computer volume shouldn't get to more than about 80% (because that's a fairly big signal to be going into the stereo input). | ![]() Powered by | ![]() Q. How to boost computer speaker volume? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Q. Is there a program that will boost the output volume for everything on the computer? basically a program that will make the main volume control louder...
"The inbuilt amplifier of a computer is set to a predetermined volume level limit..."
The alternatives given in answer one are the only ones.
The inbuilt amplifier of a computer is set to a predetermined volume level limit. It is a hardware function and cannot be overcome with a program/software.
If the output to the speakers on a laptop is too high it will cause distortion and ultimately the destruction of the speakers.
The output level is rated to the power handling capability of the speakers.
If the output signal is too high distortion will also occur if the signal is routed to external amplified speakers or amplifier system.

Q. Computer volume boost? hey guys!
i have a laptop and the sound isn't as loud as i would like it to be!
and i don't want to use headphones all the time!
iv notice that some programs like windowsmediaplayer compared to winamp, ect., winawp as a higher audio output, (just not high enuf)
just wondering if there is any software that will give me a higher audio output that im happy with :p
thanks...

Q. A way to boost the volume on my computer? cant get my volume to turn up all the way... any ideas?
master volume is all the way up
"Matter how much you turn up the volume control on your computer's speakers or..."
A web site may contain digital video and audio files that, when played, have very low volume. No matter how much you turn up the volume control on your computer's speakers or turn up the volume controls built into the QuickTime, RealMedia or Windows Media Players, the sound level is still too low.
Make sure the volume controls are raised to almost the highest level. If the volume control for the "WAVE" section is low, your video and audio files will always play back with low volume. The volume controls are located where you turned up your master volume.
Good luck!

Q. The maximum volume on my computer isn't loud enough. how can i turn my volume up? my computer has an issue with low volume. with headphones (and it's not the headphones, it's the computer) i can't get my music loud enough, i can't get my movies loud enough. is there any program or anything that will boost my volume?

Q. How do i majorly boost the volume that my microphone records? i just tried using an external microphone with a laptop, and when i play the recording, the sound is really low, i can find it in the volume mixer, but can't lower or make higher the settings.
so... are there any ways to boost my microphone volume? by the way, i am computer literate.
ahhh, i thought if i didn't have a driver it won't work at all... i'll search for one, ty.
i tried line in before, still low volume.
Don't record from the mic set the recording from Stereo in.

Q. New toshiba laptop can barely hear when volume on maximum? i just got a new laptop, a toshiba. when i put the volume on maximum it is so low, i can barely hear my music, and the computer volume and the system volume is at maximum. is there anyway i can boost the volume?
"There should be a third volume control..."
there should be a third volume control:
windows
toshiba/realtek
software application
Check the 3rd one.
also, the speakers/earphones you are using might be plugged into the wrong hole. try to unplug them and use the built in speakers.
speakers may have gone bad too.
if the speakers are ok and the software is adjusted properly, it's a bad unit and you should return it.
