I just watched a DVD for the first time on my Acer 5570Z, and the volume was much lower than on my previous laptop. However, I found a way to boost it noticeably in Vista (may work in xp if you can find it). - Right click the speaker icon in the task bar (or choose Control Panel : Sound). - Select Playback Tab : Speakers : Properties. - Select Enhancements Tab. - Check the Loudness Equalization box and click apply. Volume should now be substantially louder. Modifying Equalizer and Environment settings may also provide a boost.

you can increase the maximum volume if you are using the windows media player in your home or office pc as follows 1.. you can increase the volume by increasing the lower knob on the windows media player while watching the movie etc 2.. you can press the keyboard button for that.

One volume control slider is on your media player, and one is in the system tray, in the lower right hand corner, near the computer`s clock. Make sure both these volume control settings are set at max. If it`s still not loud enough and you don`t have a volume slider on your speakers system, you should buy externally powered and amplified speakers (Speakers that you plug in for power which have a volume control button). The best way to boost your sound in widows 7 is to update the sound drivers. Its very easy to increase volume. There must be some problem in the settings of control pannel. Somtimes windows overcome media player, if it is then reverse the procedure to get the sound.

I tried loudness equalization and it made it worse, it was about 50% quieter :-(

Maximize the volume in settings and you should have vlc media player as it supports bet to windows 7.
