"Some other sort of pet that has fleas you should probably just call someone..."
Unless you have seen them you can`t. I heard people actually get bitten by them you should have little red marks on the skin that aren`t from flies. If you have a dog or some other sort of pet that has fleas you should probably just call someone to have a pest control over your house. But remember that first of all you need to have your animal cleared off of fleas. Other way they will just keep on repopulating the place. Also, fleas bite and tickle this is why your pet uses to scratch himself. Jack Russel

 Q. Can someone tell me how to get rid of fleas in the house other than exspensive store bought items? our dog has our house full of fleas!all 4 of our children have flea bites all over their bodies.including my husband which has flea bites over 95% of his body! i have bought 3 different flea house sprays.none seemed to have worked.also what to put on my family to get rid of their bites?i've been using benadryl cream and neosporin for the open bites they've scratched.please help! thank you!
"Wont help if the dogs still have fleas though as the fleas will just..."
No name brand surface spray works well inside. As does crunchy crawly spray ( are you in Australia?).
You will need to fork out money to overcome this problem.
You will need to treat the dogs ASAP to stop the breeding cycle.
The flea bombs do work if you use them as directed and get the correct amount for your size house. They wont help if the dogs still have fleas though as the fleas will just reenter the house.
Malwash is in a tin in the pet section of the supermarket, it stinks to high heaven but is about the only thing that will work on the dogs and the backyard and the pet sleeping areas. It is good value. $8 tin will last ages as you dilute it 30mls to 2L water.
The top of the range flea products that you put on their skin monthly, I found useless. Flea collars are useless as is flea powder and flea shampoo.
You wont get rid of the bites that are already on the skin, they will go as they heal. Open bites need to be treated with an antiseptic.
you could try RID or another insect repellent in the meantime for on everyones skin.
Fleas carry diseases, this is one of those situations where you need to fork out the $ no matter how much it hurts.
They will not go otherwise.
From experience, I'd advise the flea bombs for the house. Surface spray for the house, dog drench solution for the dog and it's sleeping areas outside.
good luck

Don't have a clue why or how it works. Someone told me about it. I thought they were nuts, but figured have nothing to lose and it worked. crazy, I know.

 Q. How do i treat for fleas (without poison) with a 6 month old baby in house? i noticed my dogs itching about a week ago, treated them with frontline but began to feel fleas on my legs this afternoon (yuck!). i really prefer to avoid using the flea-house-bomb things..... please help.
"Help you completely get rid of the fleas..."
First let me tell you that I own a pest control company and what I will recommend is the complete treatment that should help you completely get rid of the fleas . I understand your hesitation about using chemicals, but the fleas are a bigger concern than the products that I recommend. Everything that I recommend is commercial strength and I use it regularly.
First, treat the pet with Capstar. This is a pill that you get from the vet that will kill all of the fleas that get on the animal for the first 24 hours. Second, use either Frontline or Advantage, these can also be purchased from the vet. Frontline can be used on pets 12 weeks old or older. Advantage can be used on animals as young as 6 weeks. If the pet is old enough for either product, switch back and forth between the two. One month use one, the next use the other. The reason I recommend this is that there are two main types of fleas that infest pets. One product works better on the first type and the other product works better on the second type. By using both, you make sure you have covered all your bases.
Once the pet has been treated, you must treat your home and yard. The best products to do this would include not only a killing agent, but also a sterilization agent. Inside, I would use Ultracide, if you can get it. (Many on line sites sell it.) Follow the instructions on the label! Wash all animal’s bedding and vacuum frequently. Throw out the vacuum bag or dump the catch container after every vacuuming. You can never vacuum too much! DO NOT STEAM CLEAN YOUR RUGS! This can hatch flea eggs and make your problem worse.
Outside I would use Demon WP mixed with Gentrol or Nylar, carefully following label instructions. Treat the entire yard, paying special attention to under bushes and low hanging branches. Most of these products can be bought at any Do-It-Yourself Pest Control company either on line or in a store.
Treating your house and yard is just as important as treating the pet!
It is also very important to stay away from the grocery store or box store products like Zodiac or Hartz. Many of these products can cause severe allergic reactions in animals.

 Q. What is the best way to get rid of fleas with a newborn in the house? i have a 1 wk old son and when my mom came to visit for his birth she brought her dog... who in turn brought us fleas! our house is now infested and it's driving me crazy. all of the foggers that i've seen would be way too dangerous to use in his area. we really can't afford to hire a professional. any ideas?
I have a step process that never fails and it is safe for use around small children.
1) Sprinkle Borax laundry detergent on the carpet and rub it in with a broom. Leave it for 24 hours and vaccume up.
2) Bathe the dog with a mild oatmeal shampoo and then use natures guardian flea drops or spray.
3) Spray the furniture with a light flea spray such as Harts furniture spray. (Make sure the baby isn't around until the spray settles and dries. It should take about five minutes.
4)You will also want to treat your yard if the dog has been playing outside. This can be done with an outdoor flogger or spray. Even some sprinkle methods work well.

in a word, Borax. as in twenty mule team borax. spread it onto your carpets and over your cloth furniture. after a while, vacuum. end of flea problem. i always left some under the couch as a preventative measure but with a baby wouldnt be a good idea.

 Q. How do i get rid of fleas in house? there are fleas in my house on my cats and this is after i bombed it and shampooed the cats withflea rid and used frontline on them/ help me please!
"Just to make sure i didn't have any more fleas in the house..."
I had this problem. First, I bathed the dog and after the bath, I put that flea stuff on her. Its the stuff that comes in the little tube. It works its way into her fur, and it keep it off of the dog. They make them for cats too.
Then, I got the flea powder stuff for the carpet. I used one can on each room, dumping the entire contents onto the carpet. Then, the product says to leave it for something like 24 hours, I left it for a week, making sure nothing survived. I did it on the furniture and under the furniture, even the bed. Also, since the dog slept with me, I washed the sheets, and anything those little buggers could live in.
After a week, I vacuumed up the powder, and then that was it.
To test to see if I had any fleas, one trick I found was to fill a pan, like a cookie sheet, with an lip around it. Put water in it, and put it near an outlet, and put a little nightlight on that outlet. What this does is attracts the fleas and they will jump towards the light, and land in the water. Since they can't swim, they will drown. Then, in the morning, you can see if you have any. I did this for about a week, just to make sure I didn't have any more fleas in the house.
I don't know how to treat the yard, since the apartment complex did it, but I am sure there are products out there that will eliminate them.

 Q. How to get rid of fleas in house and pets? i noticed fleas on dog and cat..they both were treat by the vet and we took them to get flea baths, and we got an exterminator. now its 3 weeks later they are back on the pomeranian.
i brought flea trap & spray.
any suggestions on how to rid your house of fleas in an inexpensive way.
i am taking them back to get treated again. please good suggestion..
Did they have flea baths after being treated by the vet? I'd call the vet and find out what they can do for you - but it sounds like the adults were killed off and now the next generation is coming out. If the vet treated your pet they can troubleshoot what the problem might be. Follow the instructions though, was the flea bath at the vet or someplace else? Could it have interfered with whatever product was used?
You need to ask for something with an insect growth regulator (like Program) to control the life cycle.

 Q. Renters moved out of my sister's house, left a million fleas. how to get rid of them without being eaten up? they had two big dogs, at least, in there, and i can't imagine how they stood living there with all those fleas. the house is full of old clothes and stuff, no carpets, but plenty of stuff to hold fleas, etc. it's awful. i was in there 10 minutes and walked out with fleas all over me.
"Salt kills fleas better than most flea powders..."
salt kills fleas better than most flea powders. they are attracted to it, then eat it and die, just like poison. other than that, bug-bombs made specifically for fleas and even hiring a professional.
if you have a vaccum (whether or not you have carpets) use it every day. it will help get rid of the eggs.
