 Q. How to find out processor type for a computer? i have a dell inspiron and it doesn't run anymore.
how can i find out the processor type for it?
i think i need to get a new cord, but the laptop doesn't come on.
is there a way i can find this out when it isn't on?
"Way to find out what kind of processor you have inside is to check..."
Since your laptop does not power up anymore, the only way to find out what kind of processor you have inside is to check the Original System Configuration page at Dell's support site.
Go to Dell's Support site (Link below) and choose Home User support section.
From here Click on "Product Support Troubleshooting".
At this point the web site will ask you to enter your laptops "Service Tag", the Service Tag is a 7 digit alphanumeric code on the bottom of you laptop that should end with a "1".
From this point, Click on "System Configuration Information" and then on the next screen, Click on the "Original System Configuration" tab.
This will bring up the list of parts that were included with your laptop. All you have to do is read down the look for a line with the word "Processor" in it.
To find out if you need a new cord, check the cord for frays and damage around the plugs. Currently this would be the only way to verify if it is bad or not.

 Q. Where can i find a processor for my computer higher than a pentium 3? where, in louisiana, can i find a processor for my computer that is higher than a pentium 3 that is close to hammmond? i have a great computer, built it myself, i just need a higher processor to run certain programs and games. or perhaps you have a better suggestion rather than getting a new processor. i'm not looking to spend more than $50 though. my computer has 80gb hd, pentium 3, dvd drive + cdr/cdwr burner, some kick-a$$ audio card i found, unsure how much ram, but it's pretty low, like 128mb or something. open to suggestions!
"The best thing you can do is to find out the model of your motherboard..."
Crap is a harsh word.
In any event, the best thing you can do is to find out the model of your motherboard. There are some motherboards, by ECS, Gigabyte, Asus, that can be overclocked to push newer CPUS in older boards.
For instance, my ECS K7S5a, with a combination of a bios update and switch tweaks, can actually run AMD XP processors higher than spec (2400+). There have been reports of even faster processors, in the 3000+ range, with some skillful software and hardware manipulation.
There are a lot of forums that are dedicated to pushing an aging machine to its absolute possible limits. I personally pushed a Socket 7 motherboard to 612 Mhz with an AMD k6-3+ CPU, and ran games like Max Payne one at 25, 30fps (remember, back then it required an Athlon 800mhz or higher).
Good luck!

 Q. Where can i find a credit card processor that allows adult- oriented businesses? i am having trouble finding any other than paypal or authorize.net. adult businesses are prohibited under an's policy and i would assume the same for paypal(plus their fee's are high from what i've heard). i need to find a processor that allows adult business and is very reasonable on cost.
There is some requirements you will need in order to process adult related material. Depending on what you have for sale your going to need to follow a few guide lines required by law in order for you to even use a "Third Party Merchant".
I don't know exactly what you have but I can tell you this much.
There is a website that teaches people like you this business from the ground-up, or A-Z, however you want to look at it.
It's http://www.AdultEntertainmentUniversity.com
I'd give them a shot cause they've given me some bangin advice for FREE! I'm sure if your questions are simple and to the point they will answer your questions for FREE too! All they ask is for you to sign up for there new letter.

 Q. How do i find a processor compatible with my laptop? i have a gateway mx3215 laptop. 1.4ghz processor.
i just got my 2.4ghz processor today, i thought it would work because it's intel (same as other processor) but once i put the other one in, my laptop wouldn't power up. obviously because it's not compatible - any suggestions in finding out what's compatible?
"The problem here is that you're trying to upgrade a processor in a laptop..."
The problem here is that you're trying to upgrade a processor in a laptop. Now, processor upgrades are always going to be trouble because of compatibility issues. Also, becomes of these issues, you can rarely upgrade by any significant amount. Additionally, you're trying to upgrade a laptop, which has further limitations, such as size and heat. If you're really looking for more performance, you should just by a new computer, as trying to upgrade your current one really isn't going to work nor will it give you the performance you're looking for.

 Q. How do i find the ricght processor for my computer, and then...how do i install it in the tower? it's a desktop computer.
i want to upgrade it's processor, but i'm not sure how to find the right one in terms of compatibility, how it fits in the tower, etcetera.
i need to know how to determine these things and also how to install the processor once i get it.
"Mother boards chipset supports 2- buy a processor from your list of supported processors..."
1- find out the make and model of your motherboard and google it to find out what cpu socket it has and what processors your mother boards chipset supports 2- buy a processor from your list of supported processors and some thermal paste 3- remove your cpu fan (most fans have different ways to remove them but none are to difficult to figure out. some have back plates which fit behind your motherboard which means you have to take your motherboard off to remove the fan)
4- unhook the lever which keeps your processor in place (i only have experiance with intel processors so i dont know if that holds for amd too)
5- apply a small amount of thermal paste onto the visible flat area of the processor and spread it with a plastic card (such as a credit card) until flat and thin.
6- clean any thermal paste off your old fan (or if you have a new fan with the processor sometimes they come with thermal paste already applied, i would suggest getting rid of that too) and apply more thermal paste using the same technique used on the processor.
7- refit the fan (remember to plug the power cable back into the motherboard) and start your computer.
i hope this helps, dont worry about damaging your computer they are not as delicate as people think.
