"However they can live in human clothes..."

Fleas like to live in furry places so they can hide and burrow in and that is why they don`t live in us, humans. Since we don`t have fur they tend to just bite us and leave us. However they can live in Human clothes, they are very adaptive beings and can live in a sort of suspended state for a very long time, even in the cold. They stay suspended like that until they detect body heat so they can leap onto the nearest animal and continue their blood sucking lives. But yes, can live on human clothes for quite a while. Q. Fleas?... how to kill their larvae if on clothes... can fleas live in human hair...?
my dog sleeps in our dirty clothes hamper and when i went to do laundry i saw all this larvae.. so gross.. i washed them... but curious bout fleas dang pests

"Which are not typically going to be found in human hair..."

Immature fleas are not going to be found on you, your dog, or your clothing. They can usually be found in the carpet, so vacuuming the area where your dog sleeps, it should get rid of most of them. If you hired a steamer carpet cleaner, that would be most effective. To kill adult fleas, which are not typically going to be found in human hair, you can put out plates of colored detergent next to a light to attract the fleas or set out sticky traps (just keep the dog out of the room while the traps are out). There are plenty of chemical powders and soaps you can buy at pet stores to treat your dog and kill its adult fleas. Despite what Ted said, you can be bitten by the same fleas that are infesting your dog.

Q. Can fleas live on humans and there clothes?
my house is infested with fleas and i want to now if my clothes in my drawers are safe and the clothes hanging up in my closet are safe.

"And to answer your question - you have to break the flea life cycle..."

Yes, but they are generally species specific - and won't stay on you long. On the other hand, I've walked in to a back yard that had animals in it, only to be ambushed by desperate fleas seeking their first blood meal - Those little guys are a pain to get off you, your clothes - etc. And to answer your question - You have to break the flea life cycle. Eggs hatch in about 14 days, bringing a new batch of fleas in to your animal's area. We just got through a major flea infestation here at my home. Our pest control people were coming out here every 2 weeks for about 2 months - to break that cycle. Now you can actually walk out in my yard, and the fleas on any of my animals are minimal. We use advantage - because I have cats, and I can use it on ALL the animals - eliminating the need to have multiple flea control products for different species (NEVER put Advantix for dogs on a cat, you will kill it. I've sadly had to take care of cats accidentally treated with it in the emergency clinic. They don't do well, at all.). It takes time - but if you are diligent, you can break the cycle, and be relatively flea free. On the day you get your animals treated (bathed etc, and I'm assuming you have cats?), bomb the house, treat the yard. Repeat about 2 weeks later. Make sure your pest control company, or the products you use contain a growth inhibitor. For us, we are down to once a month yard treatment - I can't control my neighbors and their pets' fleas - I can only treat my own. Q. My cats have fleas, how to get rid of them?
i just found out that all three of my cats have fleas. i don't know how long they have been there, my long haired cat has them all over, but the short haired ones don't have as many. we have some old flea medicine, and i just put it on them to keep the fleas at bay until we can get proper treatment. is there anything i can do right now/until tomorrow to keep the fleas from spreading? can fleas live on humans/on clothing/or on carpets, beds, sheets ect.? i didn't say the fleas weren't going away. i meant like i just found fleas on all of them about an hour ago and i don't know how long they have been there :\

"You need to get a flea bomb and bomb the house or..."

Yes, that's obviously why they're not going away. They're breeding in your carpet, clothing, bedding and your pets fur. You need to get a flea bomb and bomb the house or get an exterminator and in the future, keep them from the source of the fleas.

Q. Can fleas be passed on to humans?
i've got 2 cats and they've never had fleas, but the other day, i saw one running in it's fur. someone said they can be passed on to humans and live in hair and clothes. is this true?

"But they too can live on our bedding to lay eggs..."

Well for a start cat fleas wont live on us humans but they will leap on us and take a bite and the result is a very sore bump on our skin and you will notice they mostly bite around our ankles and lower legs, they do this because they leap off the cat on to the carpet to lay their eggs then when a human is passing they leap on for a feed of our blood but wont stay, they prefer the cats coat to our bare legs no fur so why stay! but they too can live on our bedding to lay eggs if your cat has been having a nap there i have found a way around this i wash my bedding and even the cats bedding in cat flea shampoo it kills them, but don't wash your cat in it as its toxic to them but safe on the bedding, its much safer to get your cats flea treatment from a vet and ask for special spray to treat the house too and follow the instructions carefully before using it,so after all that no fleas will be able to have a go at biting you.

Q. Can people get fleas?
i have a dog & a cat. and last night i heard meowing outside my door, i opened the door & a cat came in. i fed her & put her back out. well, i was taking my dog outside & felt something crawling on my face. i pick it off & it's a flea, i was about to throw it off my hand & it jumped onto my chest (note that i had a lower cut tank top on) well, today when i was changing my clothes i was looking at my breast & found the flea on my breast. can fleas live on humans? if i use my dog/cat flea shampoo in my hair just to make sure will it hurt my hair? do fleas come in "packs"? note that i kept my dog & cat away from the stray when he/she was eating so my dog & cat can't get fleas. and the stray ate on hardwood floor right by the door. the flea that i found on my breast was already dead when i found it.

"Is actually a human living with pets in a flea infested home..."

Fleas will jump on and bite humans, but our blood is incompatible with their reproductive cycle, and therefor do not technically 'live on' or 'infest' humans. They are one of the many blood-sucking parasites that are species specific, but for lack of a more appropriate host they will attempt to feed on human blood. Usually what we interpret as a human 'having fleas' is actually a human living with pets in a flea infested home. When there are so many, the people are much more likely to be bitten by the fleas.

Q. Doctors and the fleas...help me!!?
hello everyone, so far these forums are very helpful for me as i am struggling with fleas since 2 months. i even moved to a new apartment paying the lease breakage amout. i throwed lot of my stuff and moved to the new apartment. first day in the new apartment, i felt something scrolling on my back when i slept. i woke up and its a small little white thing...i don't know what it is!!!! i felt something is bitting on my head. washed my head with dawn washing liquid. next day, when i wore my clothes which were washed, i again felt something scrolling and its a white thing. there are bunch of white things. i am tired of taking head bath everyday with dish washer...i am tired with these fleas....i don't see any in the house but suddenly something bites me in the night after 2 or 3 days and again, i use foggers..i am vaccuming everyday but they are not leaving my body and hair.. i went to a dermatologist in dallas and that doctor says, forums are crazy and people are crazy...fleas don't live on hair and body of humans. he was not ready to give me any medicine....god!!! i wish those fleas should attach that doctors house and live in his hair!! can someone give me the complete steps i should take to become a normal person again. thanks for your help.. fleas are black in color after hatching but larvae is white in color which scrolls on the human body right?

ID what it is that is biting you. Can you catch one of them on a piece of clear sticky tape and take it to Pest Control, or a pharmacist may know what it is. Reads more like a louse than a flea.

Q. I can't seem to flee from fleas! does anyone have a way to get rid of the little pests?
my family and i have a clean home, we take good care of our animals, they're up on all worming and shots- get regular exercise since we live on a farm, they're well fed and adjusted and wonderful family pets. the problem is that no matter what we do we cannot seem to get rid of the fleas for good! we have bombed the entire house, vacuumed carpets and furniture, had the carpet cleaned. have used frontline, given the dogs daily baths with anti flea soap for days and days, had the vet flea dip, we even tried a flea solution in their water that didnt work! i'm at witt's end and feel terrible that i cant seem to fix this for my dogs. i have used old style lysol, foods, additives etc and the fleas are still plaguing my animals. we humans have no issue with fleas, they aren't noticeable on furniture clothes or our bodies- it's just our dogs. someone help?

"Deal with fleas when i had a dog my ex ran off but the..."

Hi, I live on a farm in TN, and I learned how to deal with fleas when I had a dog my ex ran off but the dog run was full of fleas who came in the house and feasted on ME! So I'm an expert on the topic. I have some questions after reading your information: 1) how many times did you bug-bomb the house? One time only will NOT do the job as the bug bombs do NOT kill the fleas in eggs. Multiple bug bombings in a row (from 4 to 6) are needed and you need to do them at 4 or 5 day intervals so that you catch the fleas as they hatch and before they lay more eggs. 2) vacuuming carpets requires that you dump the vacuum bag so that, any live fleas you have vacuumed don't just climb out of the vacuum and reinfest the house. 3) Frontline PLUS is better than Frontline. If you use Frontline, change to the PLUS... BUT... it simply kills the fleas when they bite the dog. It doesn't prevent them from biting the dog. It doesn't get rid of them in your home like multiple bug bombings will. 4) Daily baths can give your dogs dry skin and skin problems. You are removing all the oils the dogs need for healthy skin and fur. 5) Flea dips are very helpful, but read the bottle, or ask the vet to learn how often is the MOST you can use it without causing skin problems for your dogs. I think you've done all the right things, some (like flea baths) too often, and some things (bug bombing) not often enough. The fleas are not bothering the humans as they are sated on the dogs. They don't have to be noticale on furniture, carpets, clothes, curtains but they are there. I never say my fleas except when they jumped on me to bite me. BUT... there's one thing I don't see in your notes that you need to do... Buy some bags of diazanon granules and sprinkle them all over your yard. They will kill the fleas out in the yard all around the house if you spread it all over the yard. While I have pastures, I've never used Diazanon on the pastures very often. If I kill the fleas in the yard all around the house, that's usually close enough to the house so the dogs don't bring fleas into the house. If you have a dog house or dog bed, buy some of the cedar boards they sell to put in your closets and put some cedar in the dog house or bed. Fleas and ticks HATE cedar. If the dogs like to dig in one area outside to lie down in soft dirt, mixing cedar shavings can help there as well. I have often made a "puppy garden" for my dogs to dig in and mix the soil in the puppy garden with peat moss and cedar chips. If you need to discuss this further, please feel free to email me. addendum: all the references to dish soap, specially Dawn Liquid (original) are very true. This WILL drown fleas. When I pull ticks off my dogs, that's what I drown THEM in -!-

Q. What does this dream mean? itll stump you!?
this is my second "what does this dream mean?" question. anyway, i was in a basement.quite small, but,it seemed enourmous. why?i was equivalent in size to a pencil's eraser. i was not human. i was more of a cat-like animal.i was definetly a mammal, but i had pure white fur,and everything was tipped in red. i had cat like ears,a tail (only instead of it curving up like a u,it corved down like an n.)there were many, possibly two or three hundred of me,quite simliar.the difference was some had streaks of fur going over one eye, some appeared to have pigtails,etc.. all base colors were white, but a wide variety of tip color. we were busily at work liek ants. im wasnt sure what exactly we were doing, but we were collecting scraps of food.then i realized a small windo, our only source of light that didnt do much.it was still very hard to see. i gathered everyone to try and jump up there. after jumping on much furniture(we were so light,we jumped as high as fleas) we reached teh window.it was slightly open,so we walked out.the secon i stepped out,we all fell over the edge, and hit -hard - against the floor. next thing i know we were walking along the gravel. well, sand to you,but we were so small it was gravel.there were four or six train tracks.we were walking right on top of one.i was leading the way (we had no idea what we were doing.)and then,we heard a rumble. we all jumped off the tracks.a giant piece of machinery (the train, but it was so big,you couldnt tell.) a ramp folded down.we kind of jsut looked at it blakly.we started to walk on. we sat down on really tiny chairs. it hadnt occured to us that people (we lived on teh same planet.earth.) coudl fit on thesemand they would be pointless to them.the train shrunk, faster than you can blink, and we were trapped in idividual cages. a man,who looked much like a ringmaster, the top hat and dramatic clothing, held us up.he smiled evilly and took off with us. i collapsed. i woke up in a giant circus tent.well, compared to the ringmaster,it was puny.i,was still in my cage, but i had something through my ear. a tag that said..well,i dont remeber, but it was in the sixties. anyway, iooked up.there was a giant magnifying glass.my real self, the one that was sleeping, remebered flea circuses.then my dream self, the odd creature, got the message.the man thought we were a breed of fleas.he was calling peopel to come look at us. when i look back at te bars enveloping me,i almost exploded laughing! we were so small,we coudl slip right through the spaces!i put my finger to lips, and motioned everyoen to follow me.while teh ringmaster was turned,we sneaked away quietly.we went backstage, and were stricken with surprise. infront of us were ants.brutal,-rip-you-apart-so-we-can-eat ants.they were blood red,and hanging to the wall, which had threads hanging down.my mouth gaped and we just stared.we couldnt get past.then, teh weirdest thing happened.this is the first convorsatio ni had in my dream. a girl creature of my type came up to me. she was tipped both pink and baby blue, one eye pink and one eye blue, and wore pigtails. "i know how to get past them! " she said. i let my head fall to one side. "i read it in a human book.soemthing about..(here she grabbed a thread)gymnastics." we all looked at her like she was crazy.she turned to the ants, and swung with all her strength.she kicked the ants off,and they fell into a bug zapper.she kept on swinging, and mentioned "do the tarzan!"apparently we had heard of it before,so we went.we swung, and we swung, and we got across,.we fell into a soft bed of moss.we looked around.there was ponds, flowers, paths made by bugs, everything made for our size!thats when everything started to fade. whenever a dream ends,i start to get pulled toward teh sky,and whatever characters that joined me would wave, and i could feel myself morphing into my actual self.and i woke up. what in the world did this mean ??!?!?!i bet nobody knows :[ you know, i always figured tehre is a meaning to it if it has repeated 14 times since christmas.

No offense, but did it ever occur to you that there isn't always a meaning to a dream? Just let it be and enjoy it for what it is... a simple, yet strange dream.
