 Q. What shampoo can you bathe your dog in to get rid odor? i have a small inside dog? i like for her to go outside to play but can't stand the smell when she comes back in. maybe a spray? my first dog!!!
I really like DogOSuds shampoo for my dog. It's supposed to be all-natural and it leaves my dog smelling pretty good without drying out her skin (she's a bit sensitive).
I'd give it a try. Though, avoid any kind of sprays - they're really not healthy to be putting on your dog, especially since it may irritate her or cause an allergic reaction. Try bathing your dog regularly (once or twice a month) and see if that helps the smell.
Hope this helps!

 Q. How can you get rid of skunk ordor on my dog and on his dog house? what can i bathe him with? i bathe the dog in tomato juice, skunk shampoo, is there any product that i can use to get rid of the ordor?and is there any thing that i can use to spray around the house so the skunk won't come to the porch or close to the house?
"1 teaspoon liquid soap or dish detergent
mix these together and bathe ("shampoo"..."
Mix the following:
1 quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1 teaspoon liquid soap or dish detergent
Mix these together and bathe ("shampoo" in or rub down) the spray victim thoroughly.
Be sure to use this mixture immediately after it is created, as it is unstable.
Rinse with tap water afterward, and repeat if necessary.
For spray in the eyes, flush with water as soon as possible.
You can also use this to wash down the dog house and help remove the smell.
I used this on a dead skunk that was hit by a car in front of my house and poured it over the dead skunk and it totally removed the odor.

 Q. Should i bathe my dog in warm or cold water to get rid of fleas? if i let her sit in there for about 15-20 mins, do you think it'd work? i'd like to get rid of all the fleas so i can treat her hot spots.
Water won't kill the fleas, whether it is warm or cool. Warm water will make her shed more. You need a flea shampoo - but don't use one if you've been using other flea products like Frontline or flea collars. Mixing toxic chemicals can kill your dog.

 Q. Why can't i get rid of the smell of dog- after bathing my furkids very well? i bathe my toy dogs weekly to every 2 weeks, but after repeatedly washing them in a nice smelling shampoo and conditioning their hair, they still have that smell of dog. can anyone recommend something safe to rid the dog odor on their coat?
"You should not bathe more than once a month --..."
There are 2 products on the market that will help. First is X-O Odor Neutralizer. Comes in concentrate and you mix in water in a spray bottle. Mist the dog, furniture, bedding whatever. Next get a waterless shampoo. Miracle Coat is one brand. Same routine of mixing with water in a spray bottle. You spray on their coat and brush it through the hair well. You should not bathe more than once a month -- so these 2 things should eliminate odor and keep dogs coats cleaner longer without full bath. Try online pet supply places like www.kvvet.com or valleyvet.com or drsfosterandsmith.com

 Q. If i bathe my dog in vinegar to get rid of fleas will it hurt their skin?
"That will get rid of the fleas..."
hi, actually, vinegar is a good skin softener, great for feet. if you have dawn dish washing liquid, that will get rid of the fleas. be sure to rinse thoroughly, as it can irritate your dog's skin. then see your vet for a good anti-flea product. i use revolution, myself. also, undoubtedly, there are fleas in your home in the carpeting, cloth sofas...beds...etc your vet will have a treatment spray for those areas.... use with windows and doors open. and a little goes a long. then, outside, where your dog goes... your garden center will have a flea treatment for your lawn. good luck! i hope this helped! :)

 Q. How do i bathe my dog without hurting the stitches on his face? my dog is wearing a heavy plastic funnel because he has stitches over his eye that he'd mess with if it weren't for the funnel. the funnel is supposed to be on for 10-14 days.
he threw up in the funnel tonight. i wiped down the funnel and his face, but oh my the stench. i don't normally bathe my dog (i have a groomer), but i have to get rid of this smell.
can i bathe my dog (or at least his face, neck, and ears) without hurting the stitches?
I've dealt with post-op so maybe I can help.
If the "funnel" you have is what I was told to call an e-collar, then it should be removable to do what I suggest. You didn't say how many days post-op he is. 10-14 days is when the stitches can be taken out, so if he's several days post-op, there's less problem.
Get a bucket of soapy water and a bucket of fresh water. Dawn is especially good soap to use. Get several wash cloths and a towel. Also get a bottle of Fabreeze.
If you can remove the collar temporarily and put it back, remove it to do a towel wash up. Soak one cloth in soapy water and gently wipe the areas where the vomit was. If you have to do the stitch areas, just be extra gentle. Do this till you feel you've gotten all the gunk off. Cleanse the soapy water off with the clear water. Pat the fur dry. Take one last dry wash cloth and spray Fabreeze on it and gently rub it on the fur areas, but stay away from the stitches.
That should do the job. If you had the collar off, wash it thoroughly and then put it back on.
Having the collar off for a wash-cloth bath won't be long enough for her to bother her stitches. Let me know if you need more help.

 Q. Dog lovers: what is the best way to get rid of blue ticks? my indoor/outdoor black lab came in yesterday with her face just covered in tiny blue ticks. i spent about 2 hours picking them off of her, and still didn't get them all. i had my yard sprayed for ticks and fleas at the beginning of summer, but these are different and smaller than the brown and black ticks i've seen before. they seem to be really clustered around her eyes. i bathe my dog weekly. how can i safley and quickly rid her of these awful parasites? (she is allergic to flea & tick collars).
You should probably spray your yard again...what you sprayed with has probably worn off. We got a heavy rain a few weeks ago and my dog came in with ticks on her feet...she had never had fleas or ticks before. I gave her a good bath and we sprayed again. Haven't seen anymore ticks or fleas.
